Short Academic Bio

Renata Monteiro Soares is a researcher in Media Literacy Education and a PhD candidate in Communication at the Faculty of Communication, University of Brasília (UnB) (since 2023). She is a federal public servant at the Federal Institute of Brasília (IFB), where she works in institutional communication and educational projects.

Her academic interests lie at the intersection of Communication, Education, Media Literacy, and Democratic Engagement, with a particular focus on youth, digital media, and educational innovation. She holds a Professional Master’s degree in Innovation, Communication, and Creative Economy, a Bachelor’s degree in Social Communication, and a Teaching Degree (Licentiate) in Pedagogy.

She has undertaken academic and professional training experiences at the Erich Brost Institute (Germany) and at Language Studies International (United Kingdom). Her work combines research, public policy, and applied communication practices in educational and institutional contexts.
