Dominik Speck, research associate at the Institute of Journalism Studies and the Erich Brost Institute for International Journalism, has been elected Vice Secretary of the International Association of Public Media Researchers (IAPMR). In his new role, he will be responsible, among other things, for representing young researchers and for the association's newsletter. IAPMR is an association of academics from Europe and beyond who conduct research into public media and public broadcasting.
Dominik Speck is doing his doctorate at TU Dortmund University on public service broadcasting and transparency, comparing media policy developments and organizational practices in Germany, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. In 2020/21, he spent a year as a Visiting Researcher at the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) in Geneva, Switzerland.
On the IAPMR Board, he will work alongside Alessandro D'Arma and Maria Michalis (University of Westminster, Co-Presidents), Krisztina Rozgonyi (Institute for Comparative Media and Communication Studies, Austrian Academy of Sciences, Vice President), Michael-Bernhard Zita (Paris Lodron University of Salzburg, Treasurer) and Marta Rodríguez-Castro (University of Santiago de Compostela, Secretary). Other co-opted members of the team are Gregory Ferrell Lowe (Northwestern University in Qatar), founder of the biennial RIPE conferences on public service media research, and Florence Hartmann, Head of Research at the EBU.
